Dwell engages targeted neighborhoods all over RDU by relocating teams of people who commit to eat, pray, study, and serve together to form gospel communities that invite neighbors to experience God’s love. Dwell teams pursue the mission of God under the authority of the local church and are made up of singles, couples, and families of all ages. Dwell emphasizes God’s love for all people—not just around the world but in our own city—and values the mutual enrichment of relationships across racial, cultural, socio-economic, educational, and generational lines.

We equip and send Dwell teams to three contexts:

  1. Under-resourced communities:

These communities have limited access to opportunities around education and jobs, which can often lead to hopelessness. We want to leverage our networks and resources to both demonstrate and communicate God’s love by serving and connecting.

  2. International communities:

The RDU area has a lot of refugees and newcomers who are learning how to adjust to living in a new culture. Residents often come from difficult circumstances, and we want to provide support and encouragement through the many transitions in their lives.

  3. Apartment complexes:

Apartment communities have a high percentage of residents who are isolated from each other and from the larger community. Statistics show that most residents know only one other person in the entire complex. Through hospitality and friendship, we want to build a community where people know one another and are known and God’s love is demonstrated and proclaimed.
